‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5, episode 5 preview: Ian Somerhalder’s Damon and a Bonnie plan

“The Vampire Diaries” season 5 will be back next week with an episode entitled “Monster’s Ball,” and it is going to basically be a Decade Dance 2.0 episode where we get the chance to see fancy costumes, and also probably a good opportunity for a few people to die. (Why can’t these people just slow dance in peace already? Insert some random sounds of anger here.)

After the tragic funeral of Bonnie on this week’s episode, Elena will head back to college, but at the same time, Ian Somerhalder’s Damon is going to come up with a very risky plan when it comes to Bonnie. Why? Let’s just say that it involves Silas, otherwise known as the last guy that you probably want involved in your business. He reveals this plan in the preview video below, and let’s just say that there are a few other characters who have some questions about it.

Based on the synopsis below, it also looks like there is going to be a pretty devastating story for Caroline, as well, which really does not sound like good news given that we just saw Tyler re-enter the picture:

“On campus, Elena (Nina Dobrev) is touched by a sad and secretive student named Aaron (guest star Shaun Sipos). Elena and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) attend the Whitmore Historical Ball dressed as Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII. At the Ball, Elena shares a dance with Dr. Maxfield (guest star Rick Cosnett), who has a disturbing message for her. Caroline’s (Candice Accola) evening at the Ball takes her from happiness to heartbreak. Meanwhile, Nadia (guest star Olga Fonda) reveals her surprising history to Katherine (Nina Dobrev), and Damon tries to make a deal with Silas (Paul Wesley). Silas’ demand that Damon commit an unthinkable act leads to a violent confrontation.”

So there you have it: Violence, and plenty of it. We just hope that in the process of having people nearly lose their lives, the focus is still placed at least somewhat on trying to make sure that we get to see some more of the human element with these characters. This is why we cared about them so much in the first place, and while the Originals are great in their own right, there are advantages to not having them around.
