”Criminal Minds’ season 9, episode 6 preview: A day for the dead with a Halloween twist

Next week, “Criminal Minds” season 9 is going to be back on the air with an episode all about Halloween. So does that mean that we are going to be in store for one heck of a scary episode? Based on what we are hearing now about this episode (entitled “In the Blood”), it looks to be quite a dramatic affair. Just the title alone is something that should probably make your skin crawl.

Before we do anything else, take a look at the full synopsis below for what is going to be a story that could be almost akin to “American Horror Story: Coven,” minus the whole modern twist and some poor tortured soul with bull head attached to his body:

“When the BAU investigates victims of possible ritualistic murders in Utah, clues lead them to believe that the UnSub they are looking for might have a fascination with the Salem Witch Trials. Also, Garcia prepares for a “Day of the Dead” celebration at her apartment.”

As for the promo below, there is really just one word that we would use to describe it: Creepy. The show does not even try to hide the fact that this is airing a day before Halloween, and is going to be the sort of thing perfectly designed to make your skin crawl and then some. But will it be a particularly emotional hour of television? That is what we are currently skeptical on, and we have a hard time believing that it is going to be anywhere near what we saw on the show tonight.

Let’s just hope that somewhere in the middle of a pretty crazy episode, the show also remembers that sometimes, it’s okay to have a little bit of fun during the holiday.
