‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: Why producers may not wait for Laurel – Black Canary, Roy reveals
They’re moving quickly out of confidence, and they don’t want to be yet another show that milks every little story forever before jumping to the next big thing. Series boss Andrew Kreisberg tells E! News that you may not be waiting as long as you would think for Laurel to become the Black Canary or Roy to potentially become Speedy, and the main reason for that is that he sees little reason to wait:
“I think as always with these things, I think we surprise people with how fast get to things. If it’s a great idea, our instinct is always to pull it forward and figure out the repercussions of it afterwards. If it’s a great idea, why wait?”
We’ve clearly already seen the beginnings of the Canary story based on what happened with Roy at the end of the premiere, and there is going to be quite a bit of movement there to get Arrow involved in it. Roy is clearly on his way, but sooner or later he is going to need to learn a valuable lesson before progressing into full-on “awesome hero” mode: When to actually kick some butt and take names, and when he is better off sitting back and striking later. Just because your eventual name here is Speedy doesn’t mean that you have to necessarily act with reckless abandon.
