‘The Carrie Diaries’ season 2 spoilers: See Lindsey Gort’s Samatha Jones in new promo

Two weeks from Friday marks the official start of “The Carrie Diaries” season 2, and it also therefore marks the first real opportunity that we have to get to see some actual footage of Lindsey Gort as someone that is iconic to anyone who watched the “Sex and the City” franchise: Samantha Jones. As someone who is an unabashed fan of the HBO show, we were excited to see just what “The Carrie Diaries” is going to do with the character.

So how is this Samantha different than the original? The biggest difference we can see is simply that this incarnation of the character is younger, and since this is The CW, there will probably be a little more effort put into people keeping their clothes on. The promo still does make it clear that she is the same sort of sexually-adventurous woman that really doesn’t give a you-know-what about the world around her, which is an even more confident lifestyle to lead when you consider the period setting for the show. But her addition should help to make the show feel at least a tad more like the original, which it didn’t often during season 1.

We don’t even know where to start when talking about challenges that the show faces for season 2, but the one thing that we’ll say is that the ratings for its repeat airings on Fridays in the spring were just about as good as when it came on Mondays with new episodes. So who knows? Maybe “The Carrie Diaries” defies the odds and proves us wrong. We’re just not that encouraged by the ratings of many second-year shows this fall already, especially when you remember that Fridays are at least a little bit competitive right now with “MasterChef Junior,” “Undercover Boss,” and “Bones” even moving to Fridays in November.
