‘Survivor: Blood vs. Water’ episode 4 review: The Brad bashing hour, Caleb makes his move
After last week’s crazy episode of “Survivor: Blood vs. Water” where we lost Rachel Foulger at Redemption Island, Colton Cumbie shockingly quit the game and Tyson Apostol got injured, we wonder if tonight’s episode is going to be able to bring the same kind of drama?
Redemption island: Candice, Marissa and John are ready to compete, but before that Candice calls out Brad Culpepper for orchestrating to get John out of the game. Not only that but she tells him off for pushing the women on his tribe around. John tells his tribe not to trust Brad and to kick him off his throne. John wins the challenge and Candice comes in second, sending Marissa home. John gets to give the clue to someone and after Candice’s counseling he gives the clue to Monica and Brad tells her to go and burn it in the fire. She decides to burn it realizing that having that clue will put her at risk and she’s in a good position with her alliance.
The Brad bashing hour: After getting slammed at redemption island Brad tries to do some damage control on his tribe by implying that he’s been pushed around his whole life. Hayden and Caleb realize that Brad is an important person to keep around, at least until the merge to take the heat off of them, but Brad has other plans. He wants to send Caleb to tribal council to show the other side that they want to play with their loved ones and since Caleb is the only one on their side without someone, he’ll be the example.
The coconut scam: Gervase and Tyson have been sneaking coconut milk while everyone’s been out doing other things, poking holes and drinking the milk then putting them back. Once some of the other people realize that there’s empty coconuts for some reason instead of thinking a person is doing this, Monica thinks it’s a crab. Yeah you read that right… a crab.
Immunity challenge (and tea and coffee reward): We thought that Tyson might sit out on this one, but Tina and Cat did and one armed Tyson was up and running. Even though the loved ones had a pretty good lead at the beginning when it came down to the puzzle part of the challenge it was Laura vs Ciera once again. In the end the returning players win their fourth straight challenge. Is Ciera in trouble or will Brad get his way and send Caleb out?
Ciera or Caleb?: Normally after they lose, the guys get together and pick a girl to vote out, but Brad starts to work on the women to get Caleb out… or does he want him out after all? He later realizes that losing Caleb would weaken the team so he’s conflicted between what’s best for the tribe or what’s best for his game. At tribal council we saw Caleb turn into a total badass and call out Brad for turning on him. In fact he told everyone that he’s putting Brad’s name down tonight and pleads for the girls to send Brad out with him. After voting it’s a tie between Ciera and Brad forcing a re-vote from everyone but Brad and Ciera. So who got voted out?
Brad went down in flames, but was it the right move? Brad is a huge target and in a game like this it’s always good to keep people like this around for a while to take the heat off. Also he’s a big challenge threat and they are a team that is losing every single week. It’ll be interesting next week to see what happens to the tribe now.
Do you think that Brad was the right person to send out? Also we have to mention: At the beginning of the episode when they were recapping what happened last week, they said that Colton quit “for the second time”. Click here to hear what Colton had to say about Jeff Probst claims that he’s quit this game twice.
