‘The Following’ season 2 spoilers: First details on what Kevin Bacon, cast could be up to next
There is little doubt that “The Following” could have ended with the first season, and there may not have even been too many people upset with it. The show would have had itself a nice little run on TV, and ended with a conclusion that satisfied many in the end of Joe Carroll.
But, this is network TV, and they love ratings! The challenge for Kevin Williamson and the writers therefore become trying to find a way to tell another story for season 2 that was not only strong, but actually felt necessary for the rest of the series rather than something that was just tacked-on and repetitive to what we’ve already seen. It’s still far too early to tell whether or not they are going to be successful in trying to accomplish this, but we at least know now that they have a plan that could be interesting.
Want to make like a newspaper salesman and “read all about it”? Then just be sure to read the full synopsis on the season below:
“Heading into its intense, spellbinding second season, hit psychological thriller THE FOLLOWING will catch up with RYAN HARDY (Golden Globe Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Kevin Bacon) in the wake of a horrific new murder spree. The FBI calls on Ryan and MIKE WESTON (Shawn Ashmore) to speak with the lone survivor, LILY (Connie Nielsen, ‘Boss,’ ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’), in order to help them solve the case. Ryan is reluctant to re-engage with the FBI, but finds a valuable ally in his niece, MAX (Jessica Stroup, ‘90210’), an NYPD cop working in the Intel Division. As the investigation proceeds, Ryan crosses paths with several complicated individuals, including LUKE (Sam Underwood, ‘Dexter’) and MANDY LANG (Tiffany Boone, ‘Beautiful Creatures’), which furthers his suspicion that JOE CARROLL’s (James Purefoy) reign of terror is far from over.”
In addition to all of the people that are mentioned in here, “The Following” will for sure have Natalie Zea (Claire) around for at least one episode, and even “True Blood’s” Carrie Preston is going to go for some scares in a role as a terrifying series killer in her own right. All in all, it should make for a fun handful of episodes.
