‘Bones’ season 9, episode 2 preview: The (awesome) return of Booth and Brennan’s alter egos
Ready for some fun via Tony and Roxy? There are times when Booth and Brennan’s alter undercover egos feel like a “Saturday Night Live” sketch, and we’re certainly okay with that. On tomorrow night’s “Bones” season 9 episode, for example, they surface when the two characters have to go undercover at a couples’ retreat in order to figure out the truth about a pair of people in attendance there.
Even though they are on the job, though, it still hilariously feels almost as though Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz’s characters are still very much concerned with trying to make sure that they air all of their own dirty laundry that they have been holding onto. Since Brennan is upset over not knowing what is on Booth’s mind, she then goes into a tear about a certain hat … and temporarily loses her accent in the process. Meanwhile, Booth also tries to explain just how he feels over a fertility statue that she keeps. It’s completely ridiculous, and the presence of John Ratzenberger of all people there as part of another couple helps to make this all the more entertaining to us.
The good news for Booth and Brennan in this episode? If they attend a retreat together, they may be able to eventually find a spot where there is no technology around, and they can therefore start to air out what all of their feelings are for each other. The risk so far has been finding a place where Pelant will not suspect anything, and while Bones is starting to figure something out, she’s definitely not there yet.
