‘The Good Wife’ season 5 spoilers: Could Alicia stay with Lockhart Gardner?

During the season 4 finale of “The Good Wife,” we were teased by a storyline that carried with it some huge ramifications: Alicia and Cary planning to leave Lockhart Gardner in order to start a new firm. Given Alicia’s new position in society, along with her pretty extensive resume, it ultimately did feel like the right time to take advantage of this opportunity.

But here is the rather interesting twist that comes along with this: It’s possible that she may not be gone from the all-familiar firm, after all. By the show’s third episode back for season 5, someone very close to her is going to do what they can to keep her firmly within the fold. Who is it? Just read the official synopsis for the episode, entitled “A Precious Commodity,” below:

“Will makes Alicia a stunning offer which causes her to reconsider her plans to leave the firm. Also, the partners take action when Diane’s Supreme Court candidacy puts her at odds with her colleagues.”

Is this going to actually work? From Alicia’s standpoint, we don’t really see the advantage here save for maybe being able to stay close to Will. She clearly knows her worth at this point, and the opportunities that she and Cary could have. Nonetheless, we’re certainly all about a story that brings these characters together. One of the aspects of this upcoming season that we are admittedly very worried about is what is going to happen if the firms do not interact much. Is it really going to be that necessary to have all of our favorite / popular characters around?

This news comes on the heels of quite a few other important “Good Wife” season 5 highlights, including the return of John Noble along with Stockard Channing coming back around for more. The show premieres on Sunday, September 29, so prepare to brace yourself for the changes now.
