‘American Horror Story: Coven’ spoilers; Jessica Lange teaches ‘lessons’ in new promo

“When witches don’t fight, they burn.”

This is just one many pieces of sage advice that is handed down from Jessica Lange’s character in the latest promo for “American Horror Story: Coven,” which is getting ready for its premiere on FX come Wednesday, October 9 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. We can only hope that this season ends up living up to the massive amount of hype that has followed it over the past few months, especially when you have a cast that revolves around Lange and Kathy Bates and Patti LuPone and Angela Bassett. This has to be the best cast Ryan Murphy has assembled yet, at least when it comes to people with major awards attached to him.

This latest promo does give us a better impression (finally) about just what is going on in a season that you could also describe as “scary Harry Potter.” Lange seems to be some sort of wicked Dumbledore-like figure desperate to try and preserve the last of her kind through a school for young witches, but as we are quick to learn here, her methods are not exactly for the faint of heart. She is more like the terrifying principal that we would be threatened with visiting if we were to misbehave in class.

Given that we are now just a matter of weeks away from the premiere, you can surely expect to be entertained by getting to see a few more tidbits from the upcoming story, including hopefully some more shots of some of the other actors appearing this season. We’ve already shared a photo of LuPone as her character will play an important role, in particular as an adversary to the witches who blames them for the death of someone very close to her.
