‘Shark Tank’ preview: Sweet Ballz debuts; a Wicked Good Cupcakes update
Get ready, “Shark Tank” fans: On Friday night, the sensation is back. If you’ve loved the past few seasons, you’re probably going to love this just as much. New products will be entering the tank with hopes of turning their business into a success, and there will also be a chance during the show to see just what sort of success a product featured on the show in the past has gone on to achieve. It’s one of the best reality shows on TV, and save for a brief stint of nasty product placement with a cell-phone.
One of the biggest surprises that may polarize many of you is that Daymond John is actually not going to be featured in the premiere. Instead, we will have for the first time a panel with both Lori Greiner and Barbara Corcoran. We’ve never been the biggest Lori fan, but we are totally Team Barbara as one of our favorite sharks and are thrilled for more of her this year. We would not be surprised if many of the sharks rotate this year, that way they can bounce between this show and the millions of other things they have going on like Kevin O’Leary waking up and realizing that he needs to adopt us.
Want to read more of what you can expect from the premiere? Then take a look at the synopsis below:
“In the Premiere, Barbara Corcoran and Lori Greiner will go head to head for the first time ever. Two guys from Dallas, TX hope to bring a little sweetness to the masses with their savory cake balls; two doctors who are also brothers from Tucson, AZ, claim they have a social media cure for the old-school communication between patients and medical professionals; two sisters-in-law from Firecrest, WA pitch their business for gourmet pickles made from a 100-year-old family recipe; and a tech-savvy entrepreneur from Los Angeles, CA has a mobile app that allows a modern way to send a traditional postcard. Also, an update on Tracy Noonan and Danielle Desroches from Cohasset, MA and their Wicked Good Cupcakes business, which Kevin O’Leary invested in during Season 4.”
We can tell you that the cake-ball business carries with it the name of Sweet Ballz, and the product does look delicious online (especially since we dig all three flavors). But the problem here is that unless you’re getting a sensational product at a fair price point, there’s millions of other snack options out there. Trying to get a baked good like this to be a national success is like winning the lottery. (Update: Our full review for the episode is online. Read it now!)
In case you are new to CarterMatt, we like to this of ourselves as “Shark Tank” experts after watching and studying the show since the beginning. Check back every week for a full review of each episode, where we go through each product that is shown off while also raising the question as to whether this is something worth in investing in, and if we as a regular consumer (and not some billionaire) would buy it.
