‘The Following’ season 2 scares up ‘True Blood’s’ Carrie Preston
When you look at the role of Arlene on “True Blood,” one of the last things that you imagine her being is a ruthless, crazed killer. She’s one of the only nice, fully-human people that Bon Temps has left, and if anything she has been one of the show’s biggest victims in between Rene and then having to deal with Terry (season 6 spoiler alert!) having himself killed.
Well, isn’t this a welcome role reversal now! According to E! News, Preston is going to visit “The Following” season 2 and take on the part of Judy, one of the most loyal followers to Joe Carroll, who is likely to be still alive now based on the news that James Purefoy is returning. Seeing her as a sort of crazy villain should be a nice change of pace given her past history, and we hope that she is dangerous enough to make Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) shake in his boots a little bit.
The only bad news here when it comes to Preston is that we only imagine there being so much time in which she will be able to appear on the show. “True Blood” begins filming its seventh and final season at the end of the year, and she also is a semi-regular guest on “The Good Wife,” which has brought her an Emmy nomination this year.
“The Following” has fought hard this year when it comes to new additions, having brought in “90210’s” Jessica Stroup as Ryan’s niece (who is also a cop), and “Dexter” killer / rising star Sam Underwood in the role of a dangerous young man who the FBI is going to be trying to hunt down. Both of these actors are series regulars.
