‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’ is back (with Stephen Colbert, John Olvier’s help)
You have waited for it eagerly, but after a long summer away filming his “Rosewater” feature film, Jon Stewart returned to “The Daily Show” Tuesday night, and took about two minutes to make us realize just how much we missed the guy.
First of all, a massive round of applause to John Oliver for doing an amazing job hosting the show in his absence, and it really just shows the incredible nature of the show’s fans for sticking with a guy and giving him a chance to be truly funny and creative. Oliver was even a fixture early on tonight, as he played to Jon all of his highlights from his summer run, which included Regis Philbin kissing him on the head, Paula Deen, “Sharknado,” and of course Anthony Weiner. Remember that Weiner and Stewart have a friendship in real life? Well, it made the introduction of Carlos Danger all the more awkward.
From here (and after a hilarious introduction that also included Stephen Colbert turning up in a Walter White-like suit), Stewart then had himself both a lively interview and segment on a very hot topic in America: Syria. This just went to show his brilliance, that he can be dancing and making silly jokes with Oliver one segment, and then tackling a serious and dangerous topic like war the next. This is why Stewart is one of the smartest men out there, and also why he is the best host on late-night TV. We think that Oliver should get a show of his own, as well, and then this entire family can just rock out for eternity. A great return back for Jon overall, and we expected nothing less.
