‘American Idol’ season 13: First photo of new judging panel revealed

The panel -

While we know just how easy it may be right now to dogpile the new “American Idol” judging panel based on them being also-rans, or the show just being at that age where there are a number of people out there who are more than anxious to just watch the show tank, but the truth here is that this is one of America’s reality TV institutions, and it is something that we are hoping will succeed.

The irony about this picture just released from Fox is that the most offensive thing about it is not seeing Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. on the panel. Instead, it’s that terrible table. Why would you choose to make your logo almost impossible to read? There’s a difference between being modern and giving yourself a reason to fail, and this is not the most appealing picture that the show could have come up with given the amount of time that they have had to prepare.

This photo was taken in Boston, which is the first setting in what is going to be a series of auditions all around the globe. The judges along with Ryan Seacrest will be present for them, with the artists advancing going on to Hollywood Week. If past tradition holds firm, that will be held in November, with the last phases of the show taking place early next year. We don’t quite know yet if the same format will be used beyond the auditions, but given the new producers behind the scenes, we’re sure that there will be a few wrinkles thrown in here to try and raise the game to another level.

Earlier today, we published our own defense of the “American Idol” panel (which you can read here), which basically revolved around the simple theme of giving this panel a chance to actually be successful rather than burying them right away.
