‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Ian Somerhalder and two sides of Nina Dobrev

Given that this show is “The Vampire Diaries” and the characters are constantly swimming in a sea of drama, it was nearly a given that Ian Somerhalder’s Damon would find himself in some pretty quickly when the show picked up for season 5 … but who knew that much of the problem would be solely of his own doing?

Following a summer of bliss for Damon and Elena, the latter is about to find out some pretty shocking news when it comes to what he has been doing in secret: Allowing another character played by Nina Dobrev in Katherine to stay at his home. According to TV Guide, she will have been shacking up at the Salvatore pad all summer long, and given the amount of history between these two characters, this is not exactly a good thing.

But how is Elena not going to be aware of this? Katherine is not exactly capable of superhuman speed anymore; she is a human, and vulnerable to being detected in a flash. The only reason that we can think of as to why she is living with Damon is that she has manipulated him to feel sorry for her in her helpless, fearful state.
