‘The Following’ season 2 snags another ‘Dexter’ alum, this time Keith Carradine
Apparently, one serial-killer show likes to fashion itself after another, or at least you would think that based on some of the casting news that is coming out so far.
So who is the latest to sign up for “The Following” season 2 from the world of “Dexter”? It’s Keith Carradine! Following the news that Sam Underwood, who plays the young killer Zach Hamilton on the Showtime drama, was going to be a series regular on Fox’s drama starring Kevin Bacon, the man responsible for Frank Lundy will be a guest. TVLine reports that Carradine, who also recently appeared on “The Big Bang Theory” as Penny’s father, will play a close friend of Bacon’s Ryan Hardy named Barry. The big news that comes out of this for us is that Hardy actually has a friend. Even just one is shocking considering his guy’s demeanor.
However, you may see a more pleasant Ryan at least during the early stages of the show this season based on some of what we are hearing. He is going to be in a better place regardless of what happens to Natalie Zea’s Claire when the show picks back up, but we wonder if a good bit of this will be dependent on whether or not he believes Joe Carroll to be dead. Once he realizes that James Purefoy’s character is actually still in the realm of the living, that may be enough to change minds.
This is the latest of many castings for “The Following,” which may have recently booked a figurative replacement for the Agent Parker character, and there is also going to be a possible new love interest for Hardy turning up at some point.
The show returns to Fox at some point in early 2014.
