‘The Carrie Diaries’ season 2 spoilers: How Samantha Jones will enter Carrie’s world

While the excitement level for the second season of “The Carrie Diaries” is in some ways divided, the one aspect of the show that those who love both this show and “Sex and the City” will want to see is the arrival of Samantha Jones. Can you really incorporate such a foul-mouthed, sex-obsessed character into a show on The CW? That is going to be the challenge that the writers and newcomer Lindsey Gort (pictured) face moving into the fall season.

However, producers are giving this a pretty fantastic effort, and for the time being, they also plan to introduce the Samantha in a way that makes complete sense for the character and will satisfy fans. Speaking to E! News on this very subject, executive producer Matt Letscher had the following to say:

“The way they introduce her in the first episode is really remarkable. It captures everything that everyone loves about that character in her later years. It’s there right from the beginning, but also does it in a way that’s really moving.”

Getting the Samantha character right is going to be the key to making this entire second season work, just like making the Carrie Bradshaw character as good as the original was imperative to the success of the first season. We do have a reasonable amount of hope that this version will be successful; while “The Carrie Diaries” may have been more faithful to the books than the HBO series (which polarized some people, including us), it was very entertaining for what it was. We’ll just see what unfolds when the show returns on Friday, October 25.
