‘True Blood’ season 6 finale spoilers: Lauren Bowles and setting the stage for season 7
“True Blood’s” sixth season has been at times confusing, but the past few weeks under the tutelage of Brian Buckner have proven to us one thing: He is the man capable of leading this once-great show back to glory. For the first time in seemingly forever, most of the characters are coming back together for the season finale on Sunday night, and this presents the opportunity for almost anything to happen moving into new episodes airing next summer.
Of course, good luck finding out anything concrete about tomorrow night’s episode, save for the sneak peek that we have already presented. This is something HBO is intentionally keeping a tight lid on, and for good reason. They know that there is a singing, dancing rabbit hiding under a hat here, so why pull it out already? This sentiment is echoed by series regular Lauren Bowles (Holly), who said the following to HollywoodLife recently in setting up this episode, and teasing the path ahead:
“The end of this season, I think, is going to surprise everyone. I love the direction that it goes in — I’m not sure if everyone will — but I do. And I can promise that you won’t be bored. It really takes the show and blows it up in a way that will make everyone clamor for season seven.”
For Bowles’ character, the hope of everyone is merely that the character does get an opportunity to get her due in the last episode, especially if this means getting a chance to actually share some time with Sheriff Andy. After having a ton of work together in the past, these two have been mostly relegated so far this year to just a few little moments here and there.
“True Blood” needs a revival for season 7 if the show wants to continue pushing onward; the ratings have dropped this season, and “Game of Thrones” has supplanted it in many ways as HBO’s top dog.
