‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Nina Dobrev’s Elena faces another tragedy

At this point, we have a feeling that Nina Dobrev’s “Vampire Diaries” character of Elena Gilbert knows her way around tragedy rather well. She’s already lost so many people close to her, including her brother who was somehow brought back to life, so you would think that there would not really be much that would faze her anymore.

Well, that theory is going to be put to the test pretty early on in the new season of the CW drama. According to a new report from E! News, one of the challenges that is coming up for her is that one of her freshmen underclassmen at Whitmore College is not going to be making in through their early semesters. While this part of the story is not entirely confirmed, we’re sure that vampires somehow have to do with it. Elena and Caroline bring with them a trail of drama almost everywhere they go, and also a trail of blood. They’re probably going to find themselves getting too close to someone, or this poor sap will become an accessory to a larger plot.

Also interesting from the world of college is that there is a new prospective love interest for one of them coming up in Aaron. There is not too much known about him yet, save that he is good-looking (go figure) and the dead underclassman is someone that he has a connection with. People tend to form tight bonds during difficult times, and this may be an example of that very thing. But could this guy become attached to Elena, or to Caroline? If it’s the former, a certain Damon Salvatore is probably going to have a few things to say about it.

You will see the start of Elena in school during “The Vampire Diaries” season 5 premiere, which is going coming up on Thursday, October 3 alongside “The Originals.”
