NBC’s ‘Community’: Prepare for season 5 with this Dean Pelton video from DVD

Let’s start this article off with the bad news: We still don’t know when “Community” season 5 is going to premiere. We almost wish that it could be October 19 so that they could use that same promo from last year all over again. However, it’s really not going to be soon that the show comes back, unless of course NBC accomplishes something rare and gets a show canceled straight from the get-go.

The video below is from the upcoming season 4 DVD, which is going to be made available on August 6, and it really just features Dean Pelton in front of a green screen trying to convince anyone and everyone to give Greendale Community College a shot. Were there some pluses? Sure, as he talked about some of the crazier courses that the school offers, and some other assorted silly things.

If we’re being completely honest, it’s not the sharpest thing that the show has ever done and it seems obviously made for the DVD, given that there is only a mention of the study group rather than anything that actually features all of them in it. The writing was also a little all over the place; but then again, this is still better than 95% of every other DVD extra from some other shows.

The Dean has taken on a much larger role since season 3, and we do expect him to have an even larger one this year, especially with Donald Glover leaving the show after the first five episodes.
