‘Under the Dome’ episode 6 preview: Big Jim is a solutions-oriented man

Under the DomeWhile Big Jim on “Under the Dome” may be his own unique brand of evil, he’s also a guy that the entire town of Chester’s Mill needs to rely on at the moment to resolve their latest crisis: Not having any water. Thanks to an incident with a water tower, those reserves are (pun intended) drying up. Plus, the lake has properties of methane in it thanks to a reaction caused by the dome crashing down, which renders that undrinkable without the proper filtration.

This, therefore, is where Dean Norris’ character really comes into play and actually serves a major use to the townsfolk. Who knew the man was all about lending a helping hand? In this case, though, the “helping hand” that he is referring to is having the knowledge of the town’s history that there is a well, one that could serve as a valuable reserve for everyone in order to survive. The problem? The man with the property on which this well resides has a history of not entirely being the kindest person around. Therefore, we anticipate this being a conflict from the get-go.

Granted, it’s also just what Big Jim and his crooked mind wants: The opportunity to be “the hero.” Everyone is relying on him to pull through for them, and without his help, they suffer. Would he want it any other way? We think not. But it’s also hard to object, given that Dean Norris is the best thing that this highly-rated show has going. We’re just wondering why this titan of summer hasn’t been renewed already, and why CBS isn’t trying to put some more of their shows inside a dome in hopes of drawing more numbers.
