‘New Girl’ season 3 spoilers: Merritt Wever poised to return
If there was one thing that we begged the “New Girl” gods for prior to the start of this third season, it was for more Merritt Wever as Schmidt’s new on-again girlfriend Elizabeth, who was absolutely spectacular in showing off a softer, kinder side to a man that has been otherwise known for filling up a jar with his ugly behavior. This was a woman that allowed some of the old Fat Schmidt to actually come out again, and it turns out that Fat Schmidt is actually a good time.
Well, the lucky news is that Wever is going to be appearing (as per sources), in at least two episodes of the Fox show’s upcoming third season. We figure that producers will surely want her for more given her chemistry with Max Greenfield, but the problem standing in the way of that is that she is a series regular over on “Nurse Jackie” (which has brought her a number of Emmy nominations), and is therefore only going to have so much time in her schedule.
This is the second major casting news for the new season, following up the equally-sensational story that Damon Wayans Jr. is going to return for multiple episodes as Coach, the man featured in the pilot who suddenly “moved away” when Wayans’ other show in “Happy Endings” ended up being renewed for another season. (Sadly, “New Girl’s” gain here means the end for “Happy Endings,” as ABC has been forced into canceling that show.)
“New Girl” will return with new episodes on Fox beginning on Tuesday, September 17, where Schmidt will be forced to make a decision pretty quickly between his first love and Cece, who may actually be available to him now thanks to that marriage that fell apart when her man took off with Taylor Swift.
So feel free to commence the celebration! Oh, and click here for some more “New Girl” updates.
