‘NCIS’ season 11 spoilers: Colin Hanks talks return to set
Well, wasn’t this the worst-kept TV secret of all time? Even though it had not been discussed too much over the “NCIS” hiatus (mostly because we were pressing the panic button time and time again over Cote de Pablo and hoping at some point the result would change), Colin Hanks has now confirmed that he is now back on the show’s set, and will be doing some work to air early this season.
Just in case you want some “proof” (which apparently can now be defined by Twitter posts), take a look at what Colin had to say:
“Back on the NCIS set and I’ve decided that when I die I want to come back as Mark Harmon’s dog. #RealWondermutt”
Given the nature of this character, we cannot really imagine that this story for Colin has a particularly great ending. That is not exactly good news for Hanks, who we don’t want to see become “that guy who dies” after what happened to him on “Dexter.” (His most significant contribution on that show was being dead at the same time Deb saw her brother sticking in the knife.)
“NCIS” returns to CBS on September 24, and this first episode back will also help to set the stage for Cote’s sad departure, which, despite all of the fan campaigns, is still going to happen, at least for the time being. (Maybe she’ll turn up down the road/ It’s hard to say.)
The show remains a titan for CBS regardless of what happens anywhere else, but we can all at least agree on one thing: This news is not a shock. Next thing you know, they will be telling us that Gibbs has issues to sort out.

I couldn’t watch the last two episodes as I was just so sick and tired of the Ziva melodramafest that the show had become. I heard that Colin Hanks was good though. I’m hoping that Ziva’s departure is quick and decisive, and that the other characters aren’t trapped in some kind of grieving, pining, or revenge mode all season. It’s time for other characters to get some attention, flattering writing, and development. We need a hiatus from Ziva, Gibbs, and Vance dramas.

Really liked Collin Hanks on the show – he had a great screen presence – not an easy task when one is playing against Harmon, who can take over a room just by entering it. Great to hear that he’s returning – although I expected it – and hope he isn’t the guy getting out of the limo. Really think the actor (& character) was shafted in the SF because, oh horrors, he pointed out just some of the crap that lazy writing let the team get away with for far too many years.
While I don’t expect it, I do hope that ziva’s exit happens quickly & decisively. The ‘fan campaigns’ have reached the creepy-psychotic, near dangerous tone where they are threatening the show runner and have previously wished harm on a cast member’s wife and child. This is, of course, in addition to their aggravating CBS’s switchboard operators (who don’t get paid enough to deal with them), mail room clerks and set security – since they’re now talking picketing the set.
