‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10: Patrick Dempsey grateful for series’ longevity

Patrick DempseyBack when “Grey’s Anatomy” first started as a mid-season entry, be honest: Who in the world first thought that the ABC series was going to ultimately last as long as it has? It’s hard to really imagine that any show will get to 200 episodes or to a full decade on the air, mostly because there are a few shows really within every generation that accomplish this sort of incredible feat. The best part to some fans? There is still not much of any confirmation yet that the end is even close to being here.

In a new post on his Twitter account, Patrick Dempsey did his part to celebrate himself being back to work by posting a message that is really all about one thing… gratitude:

“Table read today ep 1001 and 1002 , Gray’s anatomy, 10 years! Wow ! Want to thank the fans !”

There are some big things that we can expect from this character coming up on the new season. For one, there will be an opportunity to see him as a father to two children provided that Meredith’s new baby survives, and he is also going to have an opportunity to tackle a very different sort of responsibility: An even larger role at the hospital now that he is one of the people helping to run it. We saw some of that last year, but this will be the opportunity for him to really settle down into this role, versus just taking it on subtly and seeing where the path takes him.
