‘True Blood’ season 6 spoilers: Joe Manganiello on Alcide story that no longer exists
If you remember during the “True Blood” filming process this season, there was big news made about the fact that Robert Patrick had been promoted to a series regular. However, we have barely seen any of Alcide’s father at all this season, save for a few little bits and pieces here and there.
What is the reason for that? Based on what we are hearing now, it looks as though we are dealing with a classic case of the show ultimately changing up what was originally a very different storyline. Speaking to TVLine at Comic-Con this weekend, Joe Manganiello shared the following when it comes to how little he really has worked as of late with most of the regulars, and how there were originally big plans for him and his dear ol’ dad:
“I haven’t really interacted with any of the series regulars … It’s kind of like my own little spin-off. There was more [with me and Robert Patrick], but they changed the storyline and [there’s now all this footage that is not a part of the show].”
Could this swap be related in some way to the mid-season change in showrunners? We wonder, given how Mark Hudis was originally the man responsible for running this season, but he was replaced about midway through production with Brian Buckner.
Regardless of this sad news, Joe promises that by the end of this season, many of the characters that we saw working apart for almost the entire season will come together, and that is a very exciting prospect given how disjointed this show has a tendency to feel at times.
