‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Some dark times, major villains are coming

The Vampire DiariesJust in case you were curious as to whether or not Silas was going to be the largest villain that we end up seeing on the upcoming fifth season of “The Vampire Diaries,” we have a concrete answer for you now: There are going to be many more terrible things coming up.

According to an article in the latest TV Guide Comic-Con issue, executive producer Julie Plec does her part to tease that while Paul Wesley’s other character / Stefan’s doppelganger is going to be an enormous part of the new season in some ways, he’s not going to be the biggest villain of the year. This character will probably start to manifest themselves as the weeks go on, and we start to see someone else rise to the surface.

Should this come as much of a surprise? Not really, since this show has really long been about villain misdirection in so many ways. While the villain was by and large Klaus at the end of season 2, we had no idea early on that this would happen. The same can be said for the end of “Evil Alaric” at the end of season 3. It was a nice turn for Matt Davis’ character, but it was also terrible in that we don’t get to see him anymore. By the same token, we never saw Silas coming as the villain early on during season 4.

What sort of villain do you think could be even more threatening than Silas this season? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below! If you do want to read some more news when it comes to “The Vampire Diaries” season 5, be sure to head on over to the link here.
