‘The Voice’ UK: Danny O’Donoghue joins Jessie J out the door
Are we going to be seeing a mass exodus from “The Voice” UK moving into season 3? It is starting to feel that way. Jessie J had already announced that she was going to be leaving the BBC One show in order to focus more on her music career, and we are now hearing that the frontman for The Script in Danny O’Donoghue is doing the same exact thing, despite winning this past season with Andrea Begley.
In a statement following the announcement of his exit, O’Donoghue could not have been any more kind and courteous to everyone at the network for allowing him to be a part of the show. In the end, though, his exit was brought on by a desire to further expand his recording career with his band:
“I had two wonderful seasons on The Voice and as everybody knows I gave it my heart and soul and couldn’t be more proud of the show and what we have achieved.
“My focus will be on The Script moving forward as we are about to embark on the most important part of our career as a band.”
The BBC hopes that he will come back to perform next season on a show, and we’re sure that he and the band would love the press that would come back for a song or two. If there is one thing that we have learned about this franchise over the years, it is that they do show a pretty incredible knack at being great to their own.
