‘Dexter’ season 8, episode 3 reaction: Jennifer Carpenter breaks down Deb’s confession

DexterOn Sunday night’s “Dexter,” there were a number of major moments, but not one of them was bigger than seeing Jennifer Carpenter’s Deb attempt to actually “confess” to killing LaGuerta to her fellow cop and former boyfriend Joey Quinn. Unfortunately, there is one problem with the whole ordeal: Thanks to the fact that she was drunk when she did it, Quinn really did not seem to be altogether interested in believing anything that she was telling him.

So why didn’t Quinn take her seriously? In the video below, Desmond Harrington claims that he really doesn’t think that Quinn could even bring himself down to that level, and imagine Deb actually killing the one-time Captain of the Miami Metro police force. Instead, he does the only thing that he can really imagine: Calling Dexter, and Michael C. Hall explains that this moment is where his character really starts to realize that he is not the key to his sister’s salvation.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Carpenter also describes how playing this scene was one of the most emotional and vulnerable moments not just for Deb in the show’s history, but also for her. She had to completely let down all of the walls, and this was not an easy thing to do. We also imagine that this is going to be incredibly frustrating for Deb, when she wakes up and realizes that everything that she said to Quinn did not do anything at all. Heck, she may be ashamed that she even admitted in in the first place. Who knows what is really going through her head every second of the day?
