FX’s ‘The Bridge’ comes close to ‘The Americans’ in series premiere numbers
Overall, the show drew 4.12 million viewers between its airing Wednesday, which was close to what “The Americans” drew for its premiere in January. If it keeps its 0.9 rating or even drops one or two tenths, we’re sure that there will be more episodes ordered to give the show more of a chance.
Check out what FX networks head John Landgraf had to say about the show’s performance:
“We could not be prouder of this amazing series which has garnered such incredible critical recognition … Meredith Stiehm and Elwood Reid have delivered a rich tapestry of intrigue and passion, and a story fraught with tension and suspense. And we’re so lucky to have Demian Bichir and Diane Kruger who so convincingly and appealingly embody their roles. We’re grateful to our partners at Shine America and can’t wait for audiences to see what happens next.”
One thing that “The Bridge” really has going for it that “The Americans” did not is the ability to air without too much in the way of competition over the next several months. The Keri Russell show had to contend against the likes of “Chicago Fire,” “CSI,” and “Nashville” all airing at the same time, whereas Diane Kruger and company really did not have the the same problem.
