House of the Dragon season 3 episode 4: More on Daeron’s story

As we brace to see House of the Dragon season 3 episode 4 on HBO tomorrow night, it should be clear that Daeron will be a focus. Even though he has been off-screen for the bulk of the series, remember that Alicent’s youngest son is key to Ormund Hightower. After all, he intentionally created an imposter to hand over to Daemon!

Ultimately, what we know about Daeron at this point is that more than likely, he is extremely loyal to Oldtown. He has, after all, lived there a significant chunk of his life — this is not like some of his siblings, who have stayed largely in King’s Landing from birth. He also does have a dragon in Tessarion, someone who Daemon oddly did not take back following some of the early negotiations.

Speaking in a post on Facebook, showrunner Ryan Condal very-much noted that this particular dragon is going to be really important the rest of the season, even if she has not been so far:

Tessarion is Daeron’s dragon, the Blue Queen. She’s a juvenile dragon, but [also] stately and reserved. She’s undoubtedly smaller than Silverwing, Vermithor and Caraxes are, but she’s a nuclear weapon in her own right on Ormund’s side and I think will have a great role to play in the story yet to come.

Ultimately, one of the things that has been so great about the series so far is that a lot of the dragons do have distinct personalities. For example, you have Sheepstealer who cannot seemingly be tamed. Meanwhile, Vhagar is thought of as the most powerful one in all the Seven Kingdoms. The saddest thing is, unfortunately, knowing that so many of these creatures will be gone in the not-so-distant future.
