Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver new tonight on HBO? Given that yesterday was July 4, it would make some sense for the late-night series to be on a break — even if there is a new episode of House of the Dragon airing before.

So what exactly are we getting in a matter of hours here? Well, let’s just go ahead and make it official: You will be waiting a while longer to see it back. There is no new episode set for tonight, and per the most-recent schedule released by the network, there will not be one next week, either. It is fairly common for there to be a summer hiatus here, so we cannot be all that shocked to be in the thick of it now.

While you do wait for more Last Week Tonight with John Oliver to air, at least we can say there are some other ways to see the host in action? He recently made his debut on General Hospital and moving into August, he also has an arc on Days of Our Lives. These appearances come after he offered himself up for roles earlier this year, provided that he got to play some extremely wild and unique characters who were not himself. It’s honestly nice to see him offer up praise for the soap industry, in particular how hard the actors have to work to film as much content as they do.

In the end, we’re just glad to have as much John-related content as possible. Also, it is funny to see some surprised about Oliver’s acting chops given that he did occasionally fall into characters back on The Daily Show. Meanwhile, he also had a substantial arc on Community as Professor Ian Duncan, though his role did shrink more and more over time after he ended up finding more success in the late-night world.
