As we brace ourselves to see House of the Dragon season 3 episode 3 over on HBO, one thing feels abundantly clear: We are officially coming into a new era. This is one where Rhaenyra now sits on the Iron Throne, but what exactly is that going to look like?

Well, first and foremost, the promo for what is to come signals that she does suddenly have a lot of responsibilities that she has to deal with. Also, does she have a ton of resources? Given that the Seven Kingdoms has been somewhat split amidst the civil war, she is going to face more inevitable challenges.

If there is one major challenge in particular Rhaenyra could be face, it is the possibility of another potential heir to the throne that is out there. Remember that Aegon is in the wind, Aemond is now at Harrenhal, and Halaena is not particularly interested in being a ruler. This is where Daeron does enter the mix. They have been at Oldtown for the entirety of the series but thanks to Ormund Hightower, that could be changing. The preview shows that these characters are going to have a larger role.

Also, Alicent is still alive after the last cliffhanger! She and others seem to be intent on telling Rhaenyra that she is not going to be able to be the same person she was while also still ruling, a charge that she seems to want to deny. She is going to have to make hard decisions, and what she did in regards to Otto is probably just scratching the surface of everything else that is to come.
