Doctor Who season 16: Who will always return?
If you have not heard the news already, there is certainly a lot of questions at present regarding the future of Doctor Who on BBC One. We know that there are plans to eventually see the sci-fi institution return; however, the broadcaster has put the show out to tender, meaning that they are looking for production companies to come out and share their own ideas as to what they could do with it.
Realistically, we will not see the series return until at least 2028, which makes sense given that they currently need new producers, a dedicated writer, a new Doctor, and a whole lot more. Somewhere along the way, though, they may also need to sell it via nostalgia. Billie Piper is a great opportunity to do that given the way the most-recent episode ended. Beyond her, though, there is also an opportunity to do more via some stars from the past.

In a new interview with Digital Spy, for example, the Thirteenth Doctor in Jodie Whittaker has indicated that no matter what, she will always be open to coming back into this universe:
“I have never ever had to hide my absolute love for Doctor Who and I have said in every single interview that was ever asked, I would always say yes [to returning] and everyone knows that is what I will feel, I will love Doctor Who until the day I die I think everything to do with Doctor Who is a surprise, who the next doctor is, who the companions are, there’s always a surprise coming.”
People like Jodie and David Tennant, who has already reprised his role a number of times, are to us incredibly important to the longevity of the franchise. They are a way to bridge the gap between generations! We have also long said that almost everyone’s favorite Doctor is the one they grew up watching.
