Criminal Minds: Evolution season 20 filming underway

Even though we just had an opportunity to get into the season 19 premiere of Criminal Minds: Evolution, there is more to share regarding the future. After all, production has officially kicked off for the next iteration of the show!
According to a new report from TV Insider (citing an interview with Adam Rodriguez), filming just recently kicked off for the landmark 20th season of the show, which of course started at CBS before eventually moving to streaming. It has been a pretty constant player at Paramount+ since making the transition, and we hope at this point that it will stay on the air as long as the producers and cast want to keep doing it.

Given that production is underway already, is there a chance that Criminal Minds: Evolution could actually return with another season this year? It is a fun thing to consider but at the same time, we tend to think the odds of it are pretty low. It does not really benefit Paramount that much to deliver two seasons within the span of a singular calendar year. Instead, our feeling is that we are probably going to have a chance to see it back in the spring of 2027. By that point, we will hopefully also have a sense of the long-term future beyond that.
As for whether or not the entire cast will be back for that version of the show, we may have to wait and see! One of the larger questions we have at this point is whether or not the writers can find new ways to use the Elias Voit character after everything that they have done already.
What are you most eager to see moving into Criminal Minds: Evolution season 20, let alone the rest of this season?
Be sure to share right now in the attached comments! Once you do just that, remember to also come back for other updates.
