The Testaments season 1 episode 6 spoilers: Commander Garth?
As we get ourselves prepared to see The Testaments season 1 episode 6 on Hulu next week, there are a few things that could change. What’s a big one? To us, it is as simple as getting to see Garth’s sudden journey to Commander status.
At the end of episode 5, it was revealed that the character will be moving into this spot, and it is significant for a couple of different reasons. First and foremost, you have the fact that Agnes seems to think that they have a potentially romantic future now … which really just feels heartbreaking. Given her family status in Gilead, odds are she will be matched with someone significantly older (and more terrible). For the sake of Mayday, however, Garth’s advancement would be great news. It would offer him more intel and within that, a greater chance of helping to thwart this regime.

In a new interview with Variety, actor Brad Alexander makes it clear that Mayday is the primary thing he is focused on at present:
“I think Garth is really excited by this change, which is perhaps a little bit naive … He’s being made a Commander, and to him, that means he can advance Mayday’s goals more aggressively. But what I think he doesn’t realize is that it puts him in actually a riskier position: He’s gaining more intel and more information, insider information. But that in itself is a vulnerability to him. He’s happy about the change, but maybe he shouldn’t be.”
Of course, we anticipate a lot more danger ahead for this character and yet, we also wonder this: Could the combination of himself and Daisy be effective in garnering more allies. Both Agnes and Becka at this point each feel like solid candidates, but speaking to them is an inherent risk.
