The Testaments season 1 episode 6 preview: Time for matches?

Next week on Hulu, The Testaments season 1 episode 6 is poised to arrive — so what more can we say about the story to come?

Well, first and foremost, let’s just say that we continue to feel for Agnes in so many ways. She’s come out of everything terrible at the ball and for a brief moment, it seems like she has hope. After all, Garth is poised to become a Commander soon — so could they actually be matched up? Given that she has obvious feelings for the guy, we understand why she would pine for this.

Unfortunately, this is where we have to issue a rather unpleasant reminder that nothing is guaranteed here. We are looking at a situation here where Chase Infiniti’s character is likely to be paired with a much older, more significant Commander due to her own position. She may try to fight it, but it could be for naught — and would this lead to her taking more of a revolutionary role? We do at least consider it something to wonder.

As the Aunts sift through ancestry records to finalize matches, Agnes plots for her chance at love. Meanwhile, Lydia contemplates the choices that shaped her rise in Gilead.

Given how fast some matches can happen, we tend to think that the decisions will be made long before Garth reaches Commander status — as tough as that is for Agnes.

As for the Aunt Lydia spotlight, let’s just say that we welcome it. The more opportunities to get to know this character, the better off we tend to think we will be as a viewer.
