The Testaments season 1 episode 5 spoilers: The ‘Ball’ to come

Next week on Hulu, you are going to have an opportunity here to dive into The Testaments season 1 episode 5 — so what do we know right now?

Well, for starters, let’s go ahead and note here that “Ball” is the title for this story, and we do tend to think we are going to see yet another chilling display of Gilead’s power at the expense of our main characters. We saw a big part of this in episode 4 in the form of a tea party; now, it will be a different sort of gathering that could further place the Green girls into a dangerous position.

At a debutante-style ball where Green girls are paraded before Commanders, the illusion of elegance begins to fray. Agnes discovers Garth’s status has changed.

Is Garth going to keep his secret long-term when it comes to being a part of Mayday? We know that he and Daisy both are both walking a fine line, and that is a part of what makes the stakes here so unbelievably high. They have to be careful, but we also remain curious as to what Agnes herself will do now. She is not a part of Mayday, but she got another cruel reminder in episode 4 about the dark nature of Gilead due to the dentist. Is she going to find someone to talk to?

By the end of episode 5, we will have reached the halfway point of the story. By virtue of that alone, we do tend to think that everything is only going to get more intense from here on out.
