Dexter: Resurrection season 2 has officially cast their New York Ripper, and let’s just say the choice is even more inspired than we ever expected.

According to a report coming in right now from Deadline, former Succession star Brian Cox is going to be coming on board as the notorious murderer, otherwise known as Don Framt. He was notorious for terrorizing the streets of New York for years, something that was mentioned by Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage) throughout season 1. He was also the top person Claudette Wallace was trying to hunt down for a huge chunk of her career.

In getting Cox (who has played a notable killer before in Hannibal Lecter), the Showtime drama is reaffirming their commitment to big stars after casting Dinklage last time. Now, they have a veteran actor who will likely elevate everyone around him at all times. This is also the first major TV role for the actor since playing Logan Roy, and we’re thrilled to learn more about what he will bring to the part.

For those unaware, Dexter: Resurrection season 2 is going to be starting off production this spring, with the plan for now being to bring it back at some point in the fall. We just hope that the show manages to live up to its excellent first season, which was so much better from top to bottom than we ever would have expected. The show has managed to capture the tone of the original series, one where there is a lot of dark drama but at the same time, a little bit of humor sprinkled in here and there. We just have to hope that all of these things are also there when season 2 arrives.
