Next week on Starz you are going to be seeing Outlander season 8 episode 4, a story that is titled “Muskets, Liberty, and Sauerkraut.” What is going to stand out here?

Well, first and foremost, we should certainly note that this is going to be one of the more chaotic stories that we’ve seen so far. More is at stake than ever and really, you can argue that the past few seasons have been lining up for this. Because we are in the final season — and we know that the show is lining up for a different ending than the books — almost anything could happen.

The Frasers and the MacKenzies prepare for battle. The Murrays are met with an impossible choice for their young family.

Of course, we are still not at the halfway mark of the season and by virtue of that, we can speak with some confidence that we are not going to be seeing much resolution to any of these stories for now. The one that could make us the most emotional is of course the one tied to the Murrays. Because we have spent so much time collectively with a lot of these characters, we are of course at a spot where almost anything terrible could happen and really, we have to be prepared for that. This is a have-your-tissues-ready sort of episode if there ever is one.

Amidst all the chaos and carnage, let’s just hope that the heart of the story is still there — this is one of the reasons why the show has remained as successful as it has been over the years.
