‘Ray Donovan’ episode 2 preview: A pep talk and a smack on the head

Did you like the premiere of Showtime’s “Ray Donovan” on Sunday night? We hope so, since the network is doing everything they can right now to make this show worth your while. The new series is coming off of a pretty strong premiere, but in watching it, we are sure that you have a few questions. For example, are we going to see many of the same familiar faces on the show moving forward?

Based on the sneak peek below from Sunday’s new episode, we will continue to see at least one familiar face on the show in Tommy, who Ray helped to get out of a pretty tight jam when it came to some rumors about his personal life. Now, he is in a PR-dictated rehab facility, and facing a completely different sort of challenge: A ransom situation. Then to make matters all the more awkward, the woman that he is paying ransom to is someone that he knows already. She wants a million bucks, and it is going to be up to Ray to “deliver” that … or find a way to get him out of it.

To us, though, the real bizarre sort of intrigue about this show is the family dynamic, and the complete fracture of a marriage that Ray has going on. Why would someone like Ray’s wife let his father into his children’s lives, knowing full well that that there is disapproval coming in from Ray himself about it? Has this man really changed? We’re not exactly feeling as though he has.
