Survivor 50 video: Coach explains his 4.0 strategy

Is Benjamin “Coach” Wade among the most intriguing players heading into Survivor 50 at this point? We would not blame anyone who felt that way.
After all, consider the man’s resume. His first season, he was among the most polarizing castaways of all time. The second time, he fell victim to some bad circumstances (Tyson’s decision) and got called a “little man” by Boston Rob. His third time playing was easily his best strategically, as he really dominated and controlled most of his alliance in South Pacific. So why didn’t he win? Well, for starters, it was Sophie who defeated Ozzy and that carried a lot of weight. Also, he did not own much of his own deviousness in the final Tribal Council.

So what will make Coach different this go-around? Well, if you head over to the link here, you can see a brand-new spotlight for Survivor 50 where he details a good bit of it. He explains that this is a softer, more thoughtful version of himself than the “selfish” guy he was in the past. He seems incredibly self-aware of some of how he is perceived, and we do think that he could disarm people by being a little more normal. This is similar to what Tony really tried to do in Winners at War.
Now, while we do think that Coach is a good player, he hasn’t reached gameplay legend status like Tony. Does that mean that there is less of a target on him? That remains to be seen. We don’t think that Coach is going to enter the season as the biggest threat for the other players — but we do think that Ozzy also being here is interesting. Could they work together, or will the scars from the past rise to the forefront?
