American Idol 24 preview: Mary Jo Young returns!

Tonight there is another episode of American Idol 24 coming to ABC, so why not prepare with a look at Mary Jo Young’s performance?

For those of you who think that the name sounds familiar here, we are talking about someone who was last on the show back in season 19, where she actually made it all the way to the top 24 — even after flubbing the lyrics in a performance alongside the now super-famous Benson Boone. Since her time in the competition, she notes that she’s done a lot of touring, working to be both a better singer and performer. She feels on paper like someone who really tried to learn all the lessons from the first go-around and from there, come back to the competition stronger than ever.

If you head over to TV Insider right now, you can see a new American Idol 24 preview where Mary Jo does her best to describe some of this. As for why she has opted to return to the show five years later, she notes that she learned more from being in the competition than any amount of time that she’s spent touring. Could she actually make it further this time around? It is certainly possible, but we know full well that there are a lot of different variables that go into that — and that some of them can be pretty unpredictable.

If there is one thing we do lament about this preview, it is rather simple: There is no actual performance we get to hear in this! What gives, ABC? We would love nothing more than to hear how much she’s grown and improved vocally — though we are well-aware of the fact that we could be getting an answer to this in just a matter of hours.
