Task season 2 premiere date: A February 2026 update

Is there any chance that, between now and the end of the month, we are going to hear something more regarding Task season 2 at HBO?

We first mentioned this last year, but it does certainly bear repeating now: We remain rather thrilled that there is still a future for the Mark Ruffalo show at all. This was not assured back when season 1 premiered and thanks in part to the star power of its leading man, we never wanted to assume that this was going to be a long-running show in the slightest. Yet, here we are, more than grateful that it is and Tom will stand out in yet another complicated case.

Unfortunately, though, you are bound to be disappointed if you are out there hunting for any sort of substantial news regarding the future — after all, there is not all that much out there right now. We know that Task will film once more in Pennsylvania, which is a great boon for the local economy and also great for facilitating authenticity. However, it is not something that gives us any sort of timeline as to what is going to happen next.

If we are being realistic here, our general sentiment is that we are going to be seeing the series return to HBO at some point in 2027 — though exactly when remains to be seen. This is a network that has a real luxury to not rush anything along, as this year alone they have Euphoria, House of the Dragon, Dune: Prophecy, and many other hits on the schedule. 2027 could also be stacked thanks to The Gilded Age, True Detective, The White Lotus, and more. We do tend to think that good things come to those who wait, and that will more than likely be the case here, as well.
