The Rookie season 8 episode 6 spoilers: Is a Nolan, Bailey divorce coming?

We knew that The Rookie season 8 was going to feature on some level some serious drama with Nolan and Bailey at the center of it. However, at the same time we never imagined that a divorce plotline could be on the horizon.

Is it really? Or, is this a case of John thinking too much that something may happen when it won’t? There are a couple of ways to look at the situation.

First and foremost, though, we begin with the source of the initial conflict: Bailey still seems intent on taking the job in DC, whereas John does not want to move and start again. She is clearly a super-ambitious person and that’s good; however, Nolan also fears like she is constantly chasing something. When you are in a relationship with someone, that makes it hard to be with them. He then suggests that their marriage is in jeopardy, which Bailey apparently did not know.

So should there be a concern now regarding their future? Of course, we cannot rule anything out, especially since the Bailey character is often disconnected from the rest of The Rookie (given that she is not a cop) and it can be hard to fit her in to all of the different stories going on. However, we actually do like the idea that there is some romantic stability with the lead character and it gets us away from all the “will they or won’t they?” plots that can really bog down a show like this much of the time.

In the end, we will just file this as a situation to watch — the last thing that we would do is read into what’s already transpired as some sort of evidence that we’ve got a clear ending.
