Outlander season 8 star Sam Heughan books first post-show role

As we await the premiere of Outlander season 8 on Starz in the months ahead, we know more of the future now for series star Sam Heughan.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Heughan has signed on to be a part of the six-episode thriller series Embassy, one that is also going to feature some big-name actors like Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons. This is a series that does not have a specific network or streaming service attached as of yet, but we have a hard time thinking that finding a home will be altogether challenging at this point.

If you want to know a little more about the story for this project, just take a look at the synopsis below via Deadline:
The series follows Layla (Kendrick), a sharp and resourceful American diplomat, who faces an impossible choice to protect the U.S. Ambassador (Simmons) or follow his orders to exfiltrate a high value asset when armed mercenaries storm the U.S. Embassy in London. She’s forced to rely on her instincts and the reluctant help of her battle-hardened ex-fiancé, Connor Wright (Heughan), in the tense hours before extraction.
In general, it is our feeling that Sam excels at these sort of action-thriller projects and this could be a good landing spot for him — even if it is only a short series. We do tend to think that he and co-star Caitriona Balfe will both be in demand for other shows and movies in the months and years ahead. We know that there are actors who tend to be identified a little too much by one singular role, but it is hard to imagine that this will end up being the case here.
