‘Falling Skies’ season 4 official; TNT renews Noah Wyle’s alien epic
Good news for all of you “Falling Skies” fans: The sky is not going to be falling on the show just yet. Following some traditionally-strong ratings for the drama in the 18-49 demographic (where it is one of TNT’s hot commodities), the network has decided to green-light a fourth season for the show. New episodes will start up production later this year, and will premiere in the summer of 2014.
For those curious on specifics, the order is for ten episodes, which if we’re being honest, has to be the perfect length for any serialized show to last. It marks enough time to build up the action and provide a satisfying conclusion, without simultaneously forcing it to go on longer than it really has to. If “Game of Thrones” is doing it and decimating everything in it’s path, our thinking is that it is probably a pretty good idea.
So how much gas does this show really have left in the tank? Our general feeling is that so long as there are good stories left to tell, and the cost makes sense given the ratings, “Falling Skies” will keep rocking out episodes with Noah Wyle and company. You do have to remember that the effects for this show are not cheap, so it may have a little bit of a shorter leash in the future should the numbers start to slip a little bit more than what TNT is comfortable with.
What’s your take on the renewal: Are you thrilled, could you care less, and if it’s the latter, why in the world are you reading this? In case you missed the details recently about the show’s upcoming Comic-Con panel, you can check them out over at the link here.
