Pluribus season 1 episode 3: Is there any hope for Zosia?
If you have already watched the first two episodes of Pluribus on Apple TV, then you are well-aware already of how stacked the deck seemingly is against Carol. There are seemingly just thirteen people on planet Earth who are not being controlled by the Many, and of them, Rhea Seehorn’s character is the only one interested in fighting any potential transformation at this point.
So how can she save the world for this perpetual happiness a.k.a. a loss of free will? This is where it seems as though Zosia / Pirate Lady could be essential to what is coming up.

Think back to close to the end of episode 2, where Zosia was handed a choice as to who to go with: Koumba or Carol. The character, despite being controlled by some larger collective, seemingly paused. If you believe that there is some sort of power of choice lurking underneath the surface there, you can see this as evidence that things could eventually change. Is there a chance that Zosia does eventually develop a consciousness of her own between now and the end of the season? That is not something that we would necessarily rule out at this point.
After all, consider this: Something had to happen to these people to become a part of the collective in the first place. If you can manage to become hit by the affliction, can it be cured? We do think that in particular, the idea of true happiness could be what breaks through this safeguard-happiness that has been presented. Or, at least we think? Given how easy it is to be cynical about Pluribus or the darkness of Vince Gilligan shows in general, we do like to think there’s a chance at a positive outcome by the end of everything.
