‘Suits’ season 3 spoilers: Meet a key character for Gabriel Macht

“Suits” fans who have been following the season 3 production closely have been wondering on thing: Who in the world is going to be playing Harvey’s father? Luckily, we now have an official answer.

According to TVLine, former “Rescue Me” actor James McCaffrey will play the father during an episode airing on August 20, which will go back a full ten years in an effort to better show some of the decisions that Gabriel Macht’s character was facing at the time. Basically, he was having to decide whether or not he wanted to go back to work with Jessica, or stay a part of the DA’s office. Obviously, we know what he ended up choosing based on where he is now. (Granted, he and Jessica may as well be working at different places given their thoughts on each other.)

McCaffrey is hardly the only big-name star that you are seeing turning up on the show this season, as you will also have an appearance coming up across multiple episodes from “Game of Thrones” actress Michelle Fairley. She first shows up in the July 16 season premiere, playing an oil tycoon that Harvey is forced to go to bat with against a prosecutor who has some serious ulterior motives.

As for this season of “Suits” as a whole, expect to see USA follow along a familiar trajectory: Airing a number of episodes over the course of the summer, and then taking a break and airing some more in the fall.
