‘True Blood’ season 6 spoilers: Kristin Bauer van Straten on the destruction of Pam
While Pam has been privy to some of the chaos surrounding her on “True Blood” season 6 over the past several years, she has done a pretty good job of managing to steer clear from being directly involved in most of it … at least until last season. Turning Tara was something that gave the set-in-her-ways Fangtasia worker a new sense of purpose and responsibility, and now that she is having to watch her relationship with Eric somewhat fall apart, and see her business shut down by Governor Burrell (Arliss Howard) with his new mandate to stop vampire businesses.
All of this tension and drama is reflected in what Kristin Bauer van Straten said in a recent Entertainment Weekly interview, as she looks back on everything that her character has been through:
“Pam’s world in the past has only been shaken by what her world mainly consisted of, which is Eric. This year, that also is part of the problem still; they haven’t completely reconciled. But she’s no longer the top of the food chain. She’s always learned how to break the law and not get caught … but she is now being hunted. She actually has moved from complete freedom to less and less and that’s exceedingly hard for her.
“…She doesn’t like change — she has Eric, she has Fangtasia… that’s her whole world. So one by one, she’s losing everything she values.”
One person who does still fully care for her? Tara, but the problem that we are currently seeing from Pam is that she seems so wrapped up in her own drama and torment that she isn’t really seeing the forest through the trees, or at least someone who cares for her in the midst of people who are preoccupied with other things. This relationship may be stunted at times by everything else happening in the world, but we do expect to see something more on it by the end of this season.
