‘Doctor Who’ season 8: Matt Smith presents the most awesome thank-you video ever
Just in case you were worried that Matt Smith was never going to take the time in order to speak out personally about his exit from “Doctor Who,” he has now done that and then some. Even though the actor is currently on location in Detroit shooting another project, he still found the time to not only create a lovely new video message for the fans, but have it be just about everything that you would have hoped for.
The message is almost too lovely to spoil, so if you want to scroll down, watch it, and then come back and start reading from here on out, we understand. Otherwise, you’re probably going to be spoiled here. In the video, Smith starts things off by showing a series of things scribbled onto a piece of paper, as he thanks a myriad of people for their support in helping to make his career the success that it has been thanks in part to the show. The extra emphasis on the fans makes it all the more entertaining.
One of the real questions that we are particularly curious to know the answer to is: How many people in Detroit have actually recognized Smith over the past several weeks, especially with the buzz-cut that he is sporting for the new movie role? It’s certainly a different look for the actor, and with this jacket he is one step away from an audition for “The Wild One”.
Smith will be departing the series after the upcoming Christmas special this year, and the producers and BBC One are already hard at work on finding a new replacement. The current gossip, as you can read here, is that the 12th Doctor could be revealed at some point in August or September.
