‘Doctor Who’ season 8: Casting 12th Doctor, Matt Smith replacement may take months

Doctor WhoFor a brief period of time, it appeared to some as though the BBC was going to pull a rabbit (or a TARDIS?) out of their “Doctor Who” hat, but now, you better prepare yourself for time to move very slowly as you wait for the network to make a key casting decision. It’s going to be a long, drawn-out process, and it may not be until near fall when there is a formal announcement made.

According to the Radio Times, BBC sources now believe that the casting process for the 12th Doctor, who will replace Matt Smith beginning at the start of season 8, will not be complete until either August or possibly even September. Previously, there were hopes that July could serve as a possible target date for an announcement to happen, but the process is taking more time then anticipated.

We understand that this whole ordeal could make fans impatient, but we pose the question as follows: What is the point of speeding things up? Wouldn’t you rather have the right person in the role? So long as you don’t pass up the perfect candidate, or wait too long that the writing process becomes more difficult, there’s no reason not to take as much time as is needed. We’ll also do our best to not reiterate the following much more than this, but we still believe that the next Doctor has not even surfaced on the radar of any major media outlet just yet. These things take time.

Are you okay with waiting to find out the name of the actor who will be leading the show for years to come? If you are insanely curious about some of the latest rumored people to be donning the famous bowtie, check out the link here; but remember, take it all with a grain of salt for now.
